DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE RECEIVES FUNDING
FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN PROGRAM
RIVERSIDE - District Attorney Rod Pacheco has announced that his office has received a
grant from the California Emergency Management Agency.
"Our office is aggressively seeking funds from other sources to continue the effectiveness of
this office," Pacheco said.
This grant is $200,000 in federal Violence Against Women Act funding for the Violence
Against Women Vertical Prosecution Program.
The funding from this grant will provide for one prosecutor and one victim advocate at the
Southwest division of the District Attorney's Office, which serves the Southwest Riverside
County area.
The two additional positions will help provide more effective and comprehensive services to
victims of domestic violence and their families. Having these two positions will also allow for
earlier and more regular interaction with the victim.
The grant award period begins July 1, 2009, and runs through June 30, 2010. After the
completion date, continued funding can be done through an application request and is
subject to the availability of funds.
