*CRIMINAL CASE UPDATE*
FOUR MEN HELD TO ANSWER FOR DOUBLE MURDER
FRENCH VALLEY, CA. - Today, Wednesday, Aug 12, 2009, Judge Judith Clark has
held four men to answer on all charges for the brutal October murders of a fellow
Marine and his wife.
The defendants, Kevin Cox, Emerys John, 19, Tyrone Miller, and Kesaun Sykes,
have each been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of
Marine Sgt. Jan Pietrzak, 24; and his 26-year-old wife, Quiana Jenkins-Pietrzak.
Each of the men have been charged with special circumstances of multiple murder,
murder for financial gain, robbery, burglary and rape by foreign object - any of
which makes them eligible for the death penalty. In January, District Attorney Rod
Pacheco decided all four defendants would be facing the death penalty.
The morning of Oct. 15, 2008, the Pietrzaks were found murdered inside their home
in the unincorporated area of Winchester. Riverside County sheriff's deputies were
sent to the home when neither of the Pietrzaks showed up for work that morning,
causing their respective employers to be concerned for their well-being.
Jan Pietrzak was stationed at Camp Pendleton and Quiana worked for the Riverside
County Department of Public Health.
Further investigation revealed that the couple had each been shot multiple times in
the head and that Quiana had been sexually assaulted.
The case, SWF026784, is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Daniel
DeLimon. All four men are scheduled to be arraigned on the information on Aug.
26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Department S202 of the Southwest Justice Center.
