DA ANNOUNCES COLLEGE ACADEMY

RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA, August 21, 2007: District Attorney Rod Pacheco announced the first Riverside County District Attorney's Office College Academy. The newly created program was announced at a press conference held today at the Riverside County District Attorney's Office.

"This is a unique opportunity for young people interested in a career in law to learn first-hand about the many aspects of the criminal justice system," said District Attorney Rod Pacheco.

District Attorney Rod Pacheco, representatives from California Baptist University and UC Riverside, and Riverside County District Attorney College Academy students were on hand to answer questions.

The newly formed program was created to give high school and college students who are considering a career in the law hands on experience in the criminal justice system and to raise awareness of the district attorney's role in the community.

Highlights of the ten week internship include an opportunity to shadow prosecutors; meet attorneys, judges, and law enforcement; tour the courts, jail, coroner's office, and crime lab; court observation, and other workshops.

This exciting new program is open to high school and college students throughout Riverside County. Registration for the upcoming fall session is opening soon. For more information, contact Stephanie Garthwaite at (951) 955-5400.
