To mark Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, the Division of Victim Services staff partner with Verizon's Hopeline program to provide cellular phones for victims of domestic violence. Staff countywide collect phones and turn them over to Verizon. Verizon, in turn, donates new phones - and cellular airtime - for use by domestic violence victims. The phones provide these victims a vital link to emergency and/or support services during a crisis and can also connect them to employers, family, and friends.
