 INVESTIGATIVE TECHNICIAN I $2,584.66 - $3,368.66 monthly
This is the entry level in the Investigative Technician series. Under general supervision, assist in an perform routine non-sworn investigative work. As experience is gained, incumbents are expected to progress to the Investigative Technician II level with satisfactory performance upon meeting the typical qualifications for the class.
Examples of Essential Duties:
- Reviews case files to locate alleged violations, determines
validity of allegations and extracts case files information useful to the
investigation. Conducts or assists in conducting routine investigations of:
welfare fraud, economic, hazardous materials and environmental crimes, bad check
crimes, insurance fraud, homicide, and child abduction crimes, spousal, sexual and elderly abuse: interviews complainants, witnesses and defendants to collect and
document information and record official statements; investigative dispatching,
and prepares routine investigative reports.
- Performs field service for civil and criminal legal process
such as subpoenas.
- Collects or learns to assist in the collection, organization and analysis of official and unofficial documents related to the assigned cases.
- Prepares or assists in the preparation and maintenance of
statistical and operational logs, records and reports.
- Transports, or assists in transporting witnesses, suspects
and victims.
- Sends and receives teletype printouts; operates radio,
mobile telephone and paging equipment.
- May photograph physical evidence and prepare crime scene
diagrams.
- May participate in surveillance and undercover
investigations.
